FSA PRO Cat. 1 Leicester come out 1-0 winners after facing a well organised Thomas Telford side.

We knew that this would be a much tougher test than last week, Thomas Telford have reached numerous National Cup finals in the past 10 years and that is what it proved to be.

But full credit goes to ours players, they stepped up to the mark and dominated the ball for large spells of the game and dug deep when they had to defend. FSA created 5/6 clear cut chances that on another day would have taken and made the game much more comfortable, however it wasn’t to be and we dug deep for a 1-0 victory.

Our goal came on the 19 minute mark as Joseph Opoku broke down the left hand side for Jospeh Kerins to convert into the bottom corner. We continued to create chances but just couldn’t find our feet in front of goal.

We would like to thank Thomas Telford for a great game and we look forward to coming to you later on in the season.

Coaches Reaction

Aiden Kirby

“I am really pleased with how the boys handled themselves today, in the first half we dominated the ball and created a number of opportunities. Then in the 2nd half we had to dig deep at times and defend as a unit. To a man, they stood up to the task, and that is exactly what we asked of them. Thomas Telford came organised and prepared and we knew it would be a tough fixture, but overall I am really happy. It was also good to see a couple of new players in the squad showing progression from our CAT 2 sides, and the talent that keeps coming through our doors”
