Our two Cat. 1 teams in London and Leicester had their first games of the season this Wednesday with great success. Cat. 2 with pre-season friendlies.
Disciplined Performance Gives FSA PRO London Three Points
Our London team battled Worthington College in an intense game and came out victorious with a 2-0 win.
"I am really happy with what the team did today. A lot of the stuff we worked on in pre-season and the effort we put into the fitness definitely showed today. It is a great start to get points on the board. We controlled the majority of the game but always had to be alert of how quick they can counter attack and their superiority in the air. Our keeper Thierry made two or three fantastic saves in the later stage of the game which enabled us to see the game out. We created a lot of chances, but at times overplayed in the final third which is something we will look at in training." - Mark Smith reflecting on the game.
FSA PRO Leicester Victorious in Tough League Opener
The team around Aiden Kirby in Leicester was also successful with a 1-0 win over Thomas Telford.
"I was really pleased with how the boys handled themselves today, in the first half we dominated the ball and created a number of opportunities. Then in the 2nd half we had to dig deep at times and defend as a unit. To a man, they stood up to the task, and that is exactly what we asked of them. Thomas Telford came organised and prepared and we knew it would be a tough fixture, but overall I am really happy. It was also good to see a couple of new players in the squad showing progression from our CAT 2 sides, and the talent that keeps coming through our doors." - Aiden Kirby praising the teams performance.
Cat. 2 With Two Great Test Game Results Before Start of the Season
Also our Cat. 2 teams have been in action with two friendly fixtures against a strong FuturePro Cat. 1 side (Final: 1-1 draw) and Boreham Wood (Final: 7-1 win). The league will kick off next week.
"Overall the players have done really well today. I thought we controlled possession in the first half and Henry Beeby scored a great early goal for us. Second half we had to work hard off the ball and the players showed good character against a strong Cat. 1 FuturePro side to finish the game 1-1 with a well deserved draw."
Matt Willcock (FSA PRO Leicester)
"A very solid and professional performance in today’s CAT 2 game against Borehamwood. The boys showed their resilience by equalising almost instantly and pushing on to dominate the game. They continued to keep the intensity at a good level and remained focused on the task until the final whistle. Overall, a very confident display and well deserved victory!"
